CLX Logistics LLC, is now an active partner in the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay® Program. Launched in 2004, the SmartWay Program is a public-private initiative between the EPA, large and small trucking companies, rail carriers, logistics companies, commercial manufacturers, retailers, and other federal and state agencies to improve fuel efficiency and the environmental performance (reduction of both greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution) of the goods moved through supply chains.

With over 3,000 partners, the program has already saved 120.7 million barrels of oil — the equivalent of taking over 10 million cars off the road for an entire year- 51.6 million metric tons CO2 reductions and 738,000 tons NOx reductions.

“Increasingly, our customers express greater and greater interest in sustainability programs,” notes Mike Challman, Vice President, North American Operations, CLX Logistics.  “The chemical industry, in particular, has always promoted safety and efficiency.  The SmartWay program, which is focused on reducing carbon output and improving environmental efficiencies, is another link in that chain.”

While CLX Logistic customers often know what they want to do regarding environmental protection and efficiency improvements, they don’t have the resources or expertise to do it.  CLX Logistics brings that capability and works collaboratively with customers to deliver results.

“Optimal mode selection, shipment consolidation and network optimization are just a few of the methods incorporated into CLX Logistics transportation solutions,” notes Challman.  “The company also collaborates with trucking partners to utilize equipment that offers higher MPG, lower emissions and greater operating efficiencies.  Our participation in SmartWay is just one element of a broad strategic focus on continuous operational improvement.”
